Yakshagana

Yakshagana is a traditional theatre form that combines unique blending of music, extempore dialogues, phenomenal dancing moves, rich make-up and intrinsically designed costumes.

This theatre style is mainly found in Tulunadu and some parts of Malenadu region of Karnataka and Kerala. Yakshagana is traditionally presented from dusk to dawn.

Its stories are drawn from Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavata and other Hindu epics.

India, the world’s largest groundwater consumer, uses around 230 cubic kilometers of groundwater in a year. Of the total available groundwater (253 billion cubic metres), around 90 per cent (228.3 BCM) is used in agricultural irrigation.

 

Poshan Abhiyaan

It is India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

It converges various programmes like Anganwadi Services, PMMVY, ICDS, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), National Health Mission (NHM), Swachh-Bharat Mission, Public Distribution System (PDS) etc

Aim: to reduce stunting by 2%, under- nutrition by 2%, anaemia by 3% and reduce low birth weight by 2% per annum respectively.

Funding: 50% by World Bank and 50% through budgetary support, which is further divided into 60:40 between centre and states and 90:10 for north eastern and Himalayan states and 100% for UT without legislature.
