On this day 247 years ago was born Raja Ram Mohan Roy Indian religious, social educational reformer who charted the course of progress for the Indian society under the British rule.

As the the founder of Brahmo Samaj, he played crucial role in the the abolition of social evils like the Sati system is singular freedom from bias of all kind in a country that was torn by traditions made him true Raja.
